Should I buy MacBook from Bangladesh or from abroad?

There are three main types of MacBooks sold in Bangladesh.

1. Ankora is new
2. Refurbished
3. Used

First come the new ones. There are several types of companies that sell brand new MacBooks

2. Stores selling Apple products
3. Retailer

Apple is not an authorized store but you can find shops or establishments selling Apple products in Dhaka at Gulshan, Banani, IDB, Bashundhara, Jamuna.

There are also many retailers.

Prices vary

Apple authorized stores in the country have a relatively high price, because they pay all taxes, duties properly, and even spend more on shopping.

For example, the 2020 MacBook 13.3 '', 1.4 GHz, 256 GB price in the Apple online store in different countries:

1. In Europe 1499 Euros / 1,39,000 rupees
2. US  1299 / USD 1,15,000
3. 5599 ringgit / 1,10,000 rupees in Malaysia

Then the price of the online store varies from area to area. [1] And so the price of the MacBook tends to be lower across the country.

The price of a MacBook in Apple authorized stores in Bangladesh depends on the country from which they imported the MacBook. Outside shops are not immune. Originally Apple product retailers and retailers import MacBooks from countries with which they have business relationships. Since these stores want to make more profit and they know it is not possible to buy a MacBook from the Apple online store and bring it to the country, they raise the price. And that is why prices are not equal.

New / Refurbished / Used:

While there is no need to explain what a new or used MacBook is, it is better to say a little about the difference between a refurbished key and a new or used MacBook.

If buyers find an error after purchasing a new MacBook, they will get another new MacBook instead of the defective MacBook thanks to Warranty or Applecare services. And the defective MacBook was repaired and released again at a lower price.

Reality and problems:

But in Bangladesh, unscrupulous traders take advantage of consumer awareness and sell these refurbished (used in special cases) MacBooks in new boxes at high prices under the name of new MacBooks. And so if this is the first Apple product for the buyer, I would advise you to watch enough video reviews about it before buying and to know the new / refurbished / used verification methods at the time of purchase.

Keyboard layout:

Apple makes its products according to the language and keyboard settings of the country in which it sells. This is called localization. As a result of globalization, at present all tech companies attach great importance to localization. Keyboard layout is one of the major localized settings. For example, in the United States, the Enter and Shift keys on the keyboard are larger in size than the same key in the UK. Again QWERTY is an example of QWERTZ keyboard or a completely different language keyboard localization.

So before buying a MacBook in Bangladesh, these things should be taken into consideration.
